Doctrinal Statement of Beliefs
What We Believe
The Godhead
We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things, the Sustainer of all life, and the Sovereign over all.
God the Father
We believe in God the Father—an infinite, personal Spirit—perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He is mercifully involved in the lives of humanity, hears and answers prayer, and offers salvation to all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, taught divine truth, died a substitutionary death for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and now intercedes for believers. We believe in His personal and visible return. Jesus is fully God and fully man.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates, sanctifies, and empowers all believers for ministry. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer and serves as our Helper, Teacher, and Guide.
The Bible
We believe that the entire Bible—Old and New Testaments—is the inspired, inerrant Word of God in the original manuscripts. It is the final and infallible authority for faith and practice.
Spiritual Gifts and Love
We believe spiritual gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to build up the Body of Christ. These gifts are to be exercised in love. We affirm that love is greater than the most spectacular gifts, and without love, all spiritual activity is meaningless.
God’s Word and Sound Doctrine
We believe in the totality of God’s Word and embrace both His sovereignty and man’s responsibility. We avoid theological extremes or systems that go beyond the written Word and cause division in the Body of Christ.
Marriage and Sexuality
We believe that marriage is ordained by God as a sacred union between one natural-born man and one natural-born woman. Sexual intimacy is to be expressed only within this covenant relationship. Any sexual activity outside of biblical marriage is contrary to God’s design.
Salvation
We believe all people are separated from God by sin and are in need of redemption. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, available to all through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. At the moment of salvation, a person is born again, forgiven, indwelled by the Holy Spirit, and adopted into God’s family—destined to spend eternity with Him.
Compassion and Human Dignity
We believe every person should be treated with compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. We reject and denounce all forms of hatred, harassment, and discrimination as inconsistent with the teachings of Scripture and the character of Christ.
The Church
We believe the church is a local body of baptized believers under the Lordship of Christ and the authority of the Word of God. The church exists to evangelize, teach, and observe the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and functions through the spiritual gifts of its members.
The Return of Christ
We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ for His Church. This will be followed by a period of great tribulation, the visible return of Christ to establish His millennial kingdom, the final judgment of the unsaved, and eternal fellowship with God for the redeemed.
